Scientific Council
The Foundation's scientific council is composed of experts in Swedish brain research with knowledge and experience in both experimental and patient-related research. The Council's task is primarily to assist the Foundation as experts in assessing applications for awarding research grants.

Dorota Religa
Dorota Religa is Professor of Geriatrics at Karolinska Institutet, Senior Physician and Deputy Head of Clinical Geriatrics at Karolinska University Hospital. Her research is focused on the fragility of patients in dementia and aging. She sits on the board of the Swedish Geriatric Association (SGF) and is a member of the Expert Council for Elderly Health.
Bo Norrving
Bo is a senior professor of neurology at Lund University. He is a leading neuroscientist with many pioneering efforts spanning several decades, a member of the WHO Strategic Advisory Group on Non-Communicable Diseases, Swedish Representative in the World Federation of Neurology, and has been President of the World Stroke Organization. He has participated in research grant assessments for about thirty donors.
Per Wester
Per is Professor and Chief Physician of Medicine at Umeå University and at Karolinska Institutet, Danderyd Hospital. He has a previous PhD in the field of dementia but in recent years has mainly focused on stroke research with studies in diagnostics, prevention, emergency and secondary preventive treatment.
Frederick Piehl
Fredrik is Professor of Neurology at Karolinska Institutet and Chief Physician at Karolinska University Hospital. He works clinically with ALS patients and researches inflammation and neurodegeneration in diseases of the central nervous system with a focus on multiple sclerosis (MS). He has extensive experience working as an expert in the examination of research applications.
Maria Eriksdotter
Maria is Professor of Geriatrics at Karolinska Institutet and Chief Physician at Karolinska University Hospital. Her research focuses on the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and she is the founder and director of the Swedish Quality Register for Cognitive/Dementia Disorders (sVEdem).
Elias Johansson
Elias is Associate Professor and Specialist in Neurology at Sahlgrenska Academy, Gothenburg. Elias leads a multidisciplinary research group focusing on research in the stroke area. In the past, he has repeatedly acted as an expert for the review of research applications and has also been praised for his good quality of review.
