About Borje Salming ALS Foundation
Börje Salming's ALS Foundation aims to promote medical scientific research to increase understanding and improve the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS. The foundation will also create initiatives to provide support to those affected and their relatives.
The foundation provides financial support to researchers for basic science and patient-oriented research projects that are focused on studying the causes of ALS, development of new methods in the medical treatment of the disease, and projects for innovative solutions that facilitate the care of ALS patients.
Allocation of research funds
In 2023, the Börje Salming ALS Foundation awarded five prominent Swedish ALS researchers SEK 6.3 million.

The foundation's initiative Give back started in October 2024 and is a digital and physical meeting point where relatives and victims meet to talk about current problems and share solutions.
During the first meeting in October 2024, Anneli Ozanne, who is a researcher at the foundation, presented how children and young people are affected when a loved one has ALS.
Anneli Ozanne also talked about how the ALS team at Sahlgrenska Hospital in Gothenburg works.
A new opportunity for Give back is planned for March 2025.

The Foundation will contribute to the dissemination of knowledge about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The Foundation will also create initiatives to facilitate and provide support to people with ALS and to their relatives.
