Application for project grant for ALS research
Applications can be made from 8.00 on 2 May until 23.00 on 1 August 2023. By the end of 2023, the award of research grants will be communicated.
Purpose
The Foundation has as one of its primary aims to promote research that can lead to increased knowledge about ALS and improve treatment of the disease. To achieve these goals, the Foundation will annually issue a grant application for basic scientific and patient-centered research projects focused on the study of the causes of ALS, the development of new methods for the medical treatment of the disease, as well as for innovative solutions that can facilitate ALS care.
Eligibility
Grants can be applied for research projects in ALS that are conducted with one of the country's universities, university hospitals or healthcare regions as the main focus. Applications can be made for funding of basic scientific and patient-centered research projects focused on the study of the causes of ALS, the development of new methods for medical treatment of the disease as well as for innovative solutions that can facilitate treatment in ALS.
Assessment process and decision
Applications undergo peer review through the Foundation's Scientific Council. The Swedish Research Council's rules are applied.In the evaluation of applications, the project's potential to meet the Foundation's objectivesthe merits of the scientific quality applicant of the project, where national and international research collaborations within ALS are given in particular merit value and overall assessment of the scientific quality and feasibility of the project.The final decision on the distribution of funds is made by the Foundation's Board of Directors. The Foundation's goal is to support the most highly qualified research projects with grants of at least 500 Tkr/year for a maximum of three years. Allocated funds are requested from the foundation on a special form that is sent to applicants. For multiannual appropriations, requisitioning takes place after the approved annual report.
Application period
The application period starts at 8.00 a.m. on May 2 and runs until 11:00 p.m. on August 1, 2023.
Application procedure
1. First, create a personal account, either by using Bank ID or manually using email and password.
2. Then choose to start a new application.
3. Next, enter the requested data as below:
- Applicants and co-applicants
- Grant manager
- Project title in Swedish or English
- Start and end of the project period
- Ethics permit
- Parts marked with * can advantageously be prepared in separate documents so that the text can be directly copied and transferred to the respective part of the application:
* Popular scientific summary of the research project in Swedish (max 1500 characters) comprehensive; Background; Objectives; Project plan; Significance. Please note that the text should be easily understood, processed and approved for possible publication on the Foundation's website.
* Complete project plan (max 15,000 characters) in Swedish or English under the following headings: Question/Purpose of the project; Background; Previous own results; Work plan; Preliminary results; References. Attachments to the project plan (pictures, figures, tables) to support the application.
4th. Please complete the credential and CV tab for the main applicant including:
- bibliometric measures from the Web of Science (which can be accessed either through the university's library or via the link: https://www.webofscience.com/wos/woscc/basic-search.
- * List of main applicant publications in the ALS area over the last 5 years
- * The project/research team's material and personnel resources for the implementation of the project
- * National and international collaborations in the field of ALS
- * Any other meritBudget for the project including accounting of other funders
5. Then preview your application and request that the application be signed by your chosen administrator.
6. After that, you can submit your application to the foundation.
