Valter Skarsgård is an ambassador for Borje Salming ALS Foundation
Actor Valter Skarsgård is an ambassador for the Borje Salming ALS Foundation. Valter is currently completing the filming of the television series about Börje which will be shown later this autumn.
Börje means everything to me. We first met four years ago and he has helped me a lot, both with the role and as a human being,” says Valter Skarsgård.
At the moment the last recordings are underway in northern Sweden and in Mexico about Börje Salming and his life and career. And in addition to the recordings, Valter spends a lot of time training in the gym and on the ice.
“When I got the role, I didn't know anything about hockey and I couldn't skate but Börje said, it's easy, you learn that quickly,” Valter says, laughing.
Thinking like Börje
Since then, there have been many hours on the ice and in the gym, both to play hockey like Börje and to build muscle like a hockey player.
It's special to portray another person. Not only the physical but also stepping into the role of another person. I've thought about Börje every day for four years, so even when we haven't met, he's felt very close.
“As an ambassador, I want to help spread knowledge about ALS and more research is being done on the disease so there will be medicines that stop and cure. No one else should have to suffer the same way as Börje.
In addition to Valter Skarsgård, Mats Sundin, Ingemar Stenmark, Rasmus Sandin and Rolf Edberg are ambassadors for the Borje Salming ALS Foundation.
