Rasmus Sandin becomes ambassador for Borje Salming ALS Foundation
Rasmus Sandin, a 22-year-old from Uppsala who plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs since 2018, is an ambassador for the Borje Salming ALS Foundation.
“I feel very honoured to be an ambassador for the Borje Salming ALS Foundation. I will work to spread awareness about ALS and increase the visibility of the foundation,” says Rasmus Sandin.
Rasmus Sandin is originally from Uppsala and now back in the Toronto Maple Leafs. Rasmus has also had the opportunity to meet Börje Salming in Toronto.
100 % on the ice
“I had the privilege of getting to know him off the ice and he was as amazing a person as everyone says. Börje was very humble and no matter what he did he gave 100 per cent, and that's something that means a lot to me.
Rasmus, who was born in 2000, is too young to have seen Börje live on the ice, but has studied Börje's playing style by watching video clips.
“Börje was a team player like no other, he always wanted to win and sacrificed himself for the team. I hope I can give something back to Börje and his family by being an ambassador for the Borje Salming ALS Foundation.
In addition to Rasmus Sandin, Ingemar Stenmark and Rolf Edberg are ambassadors for the Borje Salming ALS Foundation. Rolf Edberg is a former hockey professional in North America and is the Foundation's Relatives Ambassador.
